Oh my gosh, Kim, I am crying my eyes out. My oldest daughter was a 31 weeker - just over 2 pounds - and I lived through some of the same things you did. It's a pain you never get over - seeing your child struggle to live, fighting for breath. You never forget.

Congratulations, Mom, on surviving the struggle. You have a scar that still bleeds after 9 years - and I am sorry to tell you, will still bleed after 17 years. But with every milestone they hit, the celebration seems a little bit sweeter.

Happy Birthday-Mom! I would hug you if I could!

Give Nic a big hug!

Grandma is sitting here with tears in her eyes. I don't know how my daughter and son-in-law ever got through this but what a reward it is to see Nicolas today. He is a true miracle, and a wonderful young boy. We are all so fortunate to have him in our lives.

What a beautiful and uplifting story! God has a plan and I am so glad his plan for Nicolas was a wonderful one! Happy New Year!
