January 31
Woke at 6 a.m. but willed myself back to sleep until the more pleasant hour of 8 a.m. After all, this is Day 2 of my solo trip.
Once I was ready, I went down to the Disney Cruise Line desk in the lobby of the Beach Club Resort. The rep immediately called to have my luggage picked up from my room. I had put DCL luggage tags on two suitcases.
After confirming my DCL transfer to the Port, I was given a "P" sticker to put on my Key to the World card. I was told they had me confirmed as a VIP Media Specialist. Yeah, I like the VIP treatment.
The rep looked at the papers that I had printed after checking in for my cruise online. All was in order.
Next stop, the Beach Club solarium. This room is one of my favorite places on WDW property. Bright, cheerful and so relaxing.
I called Michael and Nicolas. They were doing well and getting ready for Nic's karate class. After filling my refillable mug with diet coke, I returned to my room to have a breakfast bar while taking care of email, Twitter, etc.
I did some more DCL prep work. Reviewing some items and writing down questions.
At nearly 11 a.m. (official check out time), I left the room and went to the Front Desk to get change for a $20 bill. I would need tip money for the next week, including tips for room service!
I returned to the solarium where I was to meet the DCL rep. There were other families waiting as well. At 11:45 a.m., we were escorted out to the DCL bus.
Before boarding the bus, we were given a Disney Cruise Line ship map. We stopped at other resorts before proceeding to Port Canaveral.
I chatted with a family from Canada. They were sailing for the first time! They needed a map of the ship so I gave them mine. I explained that I was traveling on the ship for business with the WDW Moms Panel. We talked until the video started.
I just love watching Mickey and his friends exit his house with all of their luggage. As soon as Mickey says "next stop the Port Terminal", I get all choked up!
Great start Kim, you're so lucky to stay at the BC I'd love to stay there one day! Can't wait to read the rest :)
